Ghostbusters 3 female cast, release date on Twitter

The Ghostbusters 3 trailer is not even out yet and there seems to be a huge buzz surrounding this movie set to release 22 July 2016, but there is a twist.

Director Paul Feig took to his Twitter account and revealed the Ghostbusters 3 female cast, as well as the release date mentioned above. Both Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig are two of the female actresses to star in the new film, as well as Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

In the original Ghostbusters back in 1984 the actors were Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, its director was Ivan Reitman and the movie was a massive hit. Taking in $300m at the global box office, 5 years later Ghostbusters 2 was released.

There were reports that Bill Murray was not up for signing up for another Ghostbusters movie, but again Paul Feig took to Twitter and said, “#Ghostbusters star Dan Akyroyd endorses the cast of the @paulfeig reboot.” This tweet comes with a link taking you to ‘Fansided’, it reports ‘Bill Murray has previously come out in favor of a women-led Ghostbusters film’.

Ghostbusters 3 started to trend quickly on Twitter, all over the microblogging site we see no one complaining of an all female cast. There have also been many jokes about the new cast, such as this one below –

    As long as they don’t make the film revolve around “girl power” and feminism. The characters should be ghost busters catching ghosts, that is all. They should not be out there just to prove something to the world about women. They must remember the enemy in this film are ghosts, not the men.
