In just a few days time on January 26th it will be ‘Australia Day’ and celebrations will begin to commemorate the company of the first European settlement at Port Jackson in 1788. In this year at Sydney Cove Captain Arthur Phillip raised the British flag.
Australia Day is a national day and is celebrated across the country on January 26t every year. There will be many main events happening across Australia, citizenship ceremonies, parades, parties, fireworks, many entertainers, barbecues, picnics and people getting together to have a good time.
Many sporting events get involved on this day as well, including cricket, football and many more. Sporting events in Sydney Australia include GIO Oz Day 10K Wheelchair Road Race, The Great Sydney Swim, AFC Asian Cup – Semi-Final, The Havaianas Australia Day Challenge, Australia Day at Watsons Bay, Every Man and His Dog 2015 – SUP Event, and Live Tennis Fan Zone at Customs House.
This public holiday will see many other event celebrations on Australia Day 2015, in Sydney alone thousands will be joining in the festive fun along the Sydney Harbour foreshore.
At 7.30am the ‘Aussie Beach Party’ will be kicking off at Brennan Park on Bribie Island, where there will be a free breakfast, competitions, music, a vintage car show and so much more. At 9am in the Crocoseum. Australia Zoo, Beerwah the ‘Australia Day at Australia Zoo’ celebrations will begin where there will be live entertainment, face painting, picnic lunch with the kangaroos and much more.
Other events include ‘Fish, Fun & Aussie Sun’ kicking off at 8am Suttons Beach, Redcliffe. There is also ‘Australia Day at Gasworks Plaza’ at 10am at Gasworks Plaza, Skyring Terrace, Newstead, and at 10am is the ‘Ipswich Free Family Fun Day,.
