Coronations Street’s Anne Kirkbride who plays Deidre Barlow has sadly died after a short illness. The actress was in the TV soap opera for 42 years and is very well known for her role.
ITV made an official statement on its website earlier today saying 60-year-old Kirkbride passed away in hospital peacefully. In the statement Executive Producer Kieran Roberts said, “There are no words to describe the sense of grief we feel at Anne’s passing.”

Family, friends and fans are shocked and deeply saddened. Paddy McGuinness paid tribute to Anne Kirkbride by saying RIP, he also said she created an iconic character. Other tributes from celebrities include Kym Marsh being devastated and say sleep tight glorious lady. Les Dennis also paid tribute on Twitter; he calls her a true icon.
