The Chanel Tunnel has been closed due to a smoke detection, all trains have now returned to their allocated stations until further notice.
Eurostar have confirmed details on its official Twitter account with three tweets, the first saying, “Due to smoke detection in the Channel Tunnel, all services are currently suspended, more info to follow.”
The second tweet said, “All trains are returning to original stations as Tunnel closed until further notice following smoke detection.”
People are also using Twitter to vent their anger because of the delays, one Eurostar passenger said they have been on the train for over 2 hours now and its frustrating. But other Twitter users are hitting back with, “Would you rather die due to smoke or fire?”
If you visit the Eurostar website (below) you will see they have put a message up on-screen in red saying there will be no further trains today because of the closure. They then advise people to postpone their journey and not come to the station.
One passenger took to Twitter and tweeted to Eurostar that he is on the London 1313 and that there will be a 2 hour delay, he wonders if it will be longer than that. Eurostar replied saying, “@tomslmont Hi Tom, latest – Tunnel will be closed until this eve, once we have further info re compensation, refunds etc, we’ll update.”
A new update has just come in on the Eurostar Twtter saying NO further services will be running today, more info will be updated this evening on the Eurostar website.
