Men vs. Women in popular social media use: Interactive

Do we totally understand the grand scale of things when it comes to the men and women using different social media sites? It seems women make up 60% of users when it comes to popular social media networks.

Silk has put together a very interesting interactive database looking at the data behind the distribution of male and female users of different social media sites. This has been based on the 2014 data from “Who Rules the Social Web“, by Information is Beautiful.

The interactive database numbers below also shows information about each product from CrunchBase and imported it into Silk, so you can interactively query, visualize and share data behind the graphs thanks to Silk’s information.

If you look at the first interactive visualisation titled, “Ten social networks where 60% or more of users are women” you will notice Tumblr shows the percentage of female users at 72%, Snapchat 70%, Pinterest 66% of users are women, Mumsnet 65%, Gaia Online 62%, MySpace 62%, Forsquare 62%, Meetup 62%, Vine 60%, and CafeMon social users are 60% of women meaning only 40% are men.
