Between Q3 2014 July and September Facebook dominated all other social media networks when it came to social logins. With 58% being Facebook’s share and 24% Google Plus. So how will Facebook social logins for 2015 fair against Google Plus for the same period?
We have to say it is very hard to judge what will happen in the same period for 2015, but if you look at the mobile social login stats for example you can see a decline with Facebook and a rise for Google Plus. Facebook saw a marginal drop in mobile logins in Q3, losing around 2% share of logins over the previous quarter. Google and Google Plus went up a little, gaining around 3% over Q2 according to the Infographic by Gigya.
Facebook is of course still way ahead with its social logins compared to the likes of Google Plus, but many believe that 2015 will be the year Google sees a massive increase with G Plus logins – time will tell as they say.
Now if we take a look at the infographic below courtesy of Statista and Janrain, it shows in Q3 2013 Facebook’s social logins at 33%, Google Plus at 33% and in Q3 2014 Facebook with 46% and G Plus at 34%, which means they both went up 1%.

Of course numbers and percentages will be flying around, but we will only know the true numbers in Q3 2015. But Google Plus users believe G Plus will close the gap on Facebook when it comes to social media logins, it is already been proven teenagers have started to leave Facebook. We are aware to login into most apps you can use your Facebook login, and more applications are being released where this is the case. But we cannot count out Google Plus just yet, because there are also many apps asking for either Facebook or G Plus logins.
On January 1, 2015 Facebook will be updating its terms, policies and bringing in its new set of Privacy basics. This is where they will also be changing its terms, cookies policy and data policy to reflect its new features. New Facebook features will most definitely mean more social logins, users love new stuff.
Facebook could bring in new features include blocking and choosing audiences for new posts, unfriending people, untagging. Or what about if Facebook could shut itself down in the background if your mobile device is low on battery to conserve power?
