Facebook WhatsApp acquisition closure, no ads in sight

Facebook has finally closed its $19 billion acquisition of WhatsApp, it took a while but now the authorization from European regulators has been finalised, and the good thing is no mention of ads were discussed.

WhatsApp cofounder Jan Koum is going to stay as the company’s chief executive, he will get his annual base salary of $1 but will not be getting a bonus under Facebook’s bonus plan. However, Jan Koum will be provided with a new salary that is the same as other high-profile CEOs such as Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg etc.

Koum will also get an incentive grant of restricted stock units (RSUs), which totals to 24,853,468. These shares will tally quarterly over the next four years, with approximately 20% of the RSUs vesting on November 15, 2015.

The $19 billion Whatsapp acquisition is now worth a massive $22 billion already because of Facebook’s stocks rising rapidly.
