Redbox Instant by Verizon known for streaming movies will shut down on October 7th with information on refunds being emailed to those who are applicable, they will also be posted on the website from October 10. Please do remember Redbox Instant refunds have been discussed, information will be released soon.

The service will be closing its doors on October 7 because they it did not meet the criteria of the partnership. Those using the service will still be able to stream movies as well as being able to use your Redbox kiosk credits, but please remember you cannot use them after Tuesday, October 7 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

You can see the apology message here by the Redbox Instant team, RedBox Instant only started last year in March, and subscribers’ only paid $6 per month to gain access to all the movies from Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, EPIX and Relativity.

The service can also be seen on the Sony PS4, which will obviously be removed from the console after the date mentioned above.

The reason for the doors closing on Redbox Instant is apparently to do with not being as successful as it should be.

Partnering with Verizon was their first biggest mistake. Verizon is still stuck in ma bell think. They are still struggling with dealing with TV and Internet service.
