New Gmail Safer Email in Transparency report

Google has just added the new ‘Safer Email’ section to its Transparency Report in the hope to document the percentage of inbound and outgoing Gmail messages that are encrypted.

Google as we know encrypts all email, but this cannot promise confidentiality. But, there is a way and that is by the recipient’s email provider adopting the technology.

When we look at the “How much email was encrypted in transit?” 65% messages from Gmail to other providers are now encrypted (Outbound) and when it comes to inbound emails 50% have been encrypted, which overall is up by around 40 percent since December.

The new Gmail Safer Email section in the Transparency Report shows email encryption in transit, looks into the figures of how much email was encrypted in transit and top domains when it comes to volume of email sent and received Gmail. The top domain by region when it comes to inbound is Amazon’s marketing email service, outbound is AOL.com.

When you visit the new Gmail Safer Email section you will have the option to spread the word, Google would like you to share with Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
