Conchita Wurst Eurovision 2014 winner defeats Facebook campaigners

A facebook page titled ‘NEIN zu Conchita Wurst beim Song Contest’ (In English – at the Song Contest) has gained a massive 36,658 likes, but this was a lot higher before Conchita Wurst won the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen.

The Austrian Facebook page was set up 10 September 2013, which was put into place to stop the star being allowed to go to Copenhagen to enter the singing competition, but after Thomas “Tom” Neuwirth better known as Conchita Wurst won the Facebook page likes went down by about 1000 as reported by to Austrian Times.

After Wurst won the Eurovision Contest Gerhard Jungmann who was the Facebook account site organizer stepped down as its administrator. However, Conchita Wurst’s official Facebook page has over 580k fans. Most would call ‘The Facebook Wurst Hate Page’ did not make a difference to the winners outcome.

To start Facebook pages, campaigns etc will only fuel the fire for other campaigners to step up to the mark; the anti Conchita campaign was unsuccessful. Conchita said there are many more important things in life that one could put all energy into, fighting for the rights of people that are discriminated against and not against them was one of the things the star pointed out.

There seems to be a lot of hate over on Twitter as well, one tweet said God hates Wurst and in defiance of Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:24-27. We are not going to list them all, just click on the Twitter link above.
