Gmail update suggests Google+ connections to email

When you go to your Gmail inbox now to check your emails head on up to your settings, you will see a new update that allows you to email those that you know over on your Google+.

You may have Gmail but know someone you have not yet exchanged email addresses, take all those over on G+ that you know very well for example, you may know them but then would have to go to their about page to send them a message – Not anymore.

When you compose your email now, Gmail will show you all you Google+ connections as recipients, this is great news because it means you can email them if you please without you having had to exchange email addresses.

Just so you know, you do not have to worry if you think your email address is on show to all your G+ connections, you have to apply in the Gmail settings first, and you do have to send them an email, which means their email address are not visible to you until they respond.

If you have a lot of G+ followers it is only those that are in your Circles that can contact you by default.

Receiving email from people outside your circles
If you update your setting to let people outside your circles contact you, emails from them will be filtered into the Social category of the inbox (if enabled) and only after you respond or add them to your circles, can they start another conversation with you.

Email via Google+: In your Gmail settings you will see a section where it says “Who can email you via your Google+ profile?” and in the drop down box it gives users options including Circles / Anyone on Google+ / Extended Circles / No One. If people who aren’t in your circles send you emails in this way, you must agree before they can send you more.

What do you think of the new Gmail update connecting you with Google+?
