LinkedIn intro to Q3 Earnings, 259m users

LinkedIn users are growing each year; the social network is not growing as fast as say Facebook or Google Plus but with 259 million monthly active users that is great news.

The professional social networking site now has 259 million monthly active users, which are up from 238 million in the previous quarter; one year prior to this it was only 187 million.

Twitter had 230 million active users in its last quarter earnings results, so this puts LinkedIn ahead of Twitter. Google Plus has 300 million and Facebook has the most with a staggering 1.15 billion.

LinkedIn’s Q3 2013 earnings call came in today and its earnings per share came in at $0.39 on revenues of $393 million, the Wall Street estimates for earnings of $0.32 per share on revenue of $384.5 million were estimated.

The December quarter it revenue of $415 million to $420 million, which is obviously a lot less than Wall Street was expecting at $438 million. Because of this estimate is brought LinkedIn’s stock down by about 5%.
