Pinterest starts two separate domain-related fights

Popular pin board photo sharing giants Pinterest has started two separate domain-related fights, and these include Amazon’s .pin Request as well as a filing against the owners of Pinterest.info.

One of the domain-related fights includes a top-level generic domain aka gTLD, which Amazon has planned and the second consists of an existing domain registration.

Amazon’s .pin domain request has formally resulted in Pinterest opposing its objection, and leaving Pinterest filing a legal rights objection. It was reported this was one of 75 new domains that Amazon applied for in ICANN’s ongoing expansion of the top-level domain space. Domain Name Wire mentions in its news piece that they cannot see why .pin will violate Pinterest, and cannot see any purpose in what Amazon can do with it.

In another case also reported by Domain Name Wire, it seems that Abbi Waxman is listed as the pinterest.info owner, which was registered on May 18, 2011. We also notice that Pinterest doesn’t own the domains pinterest.org and pinterest.net, which might lead to further cases in the coming weeks.

Please do read the full story by clicking on the source links above, this is very interesting indeed and OSM will report more over the next few weeks.

Just wish to say thanks to Marketing Land.
