Facebook hiring developers highlight US immigration policy

A lot can be learnt from Facebook’s activities when it comes to hiring new developers and some recent news landed on our desk from Vancouver Sun, which points to problems with the US immigration policy.

The temporary office will be based in Vancouver and looks to involve around 150 developers, and these people will be fresh graduates in engineering. This move shows that Facebook is in need of new talent and wants to position this office pretty close to their Seattle engineering office.

Next Web raises an interesting point, which involves the length of time the office will be open for. They explain in their article that one year is the amount of time needed to gain a work permit in the US, which Next Web explains would point to Facebook “stashing” talented developers in Vancouver until they can move them to Seattle.

The current United States immigration policy.is forcing Facebook to take such action, although we’d love to know your thoughts on the above news and the way Facebook seems to be bringing new talent into the US?
