New AT&T Vivid & Skyrocket receive price cut already

Looking for a new cellphone? If the answer’s yes, then you might want to explore one of two avenues, the first device is that of HTC’s new Vivid or the second being that of Samsung’s new Galaxy S II Skyrocket smartphone. Each running on AT&T and having the benefit of the new LTE network, the US carrier has just dramatically slashed prices on both, a day after their official release.

According to Shaun McGlaun over at Slashgear, the new Vivid will now retail for $99 with the Skyrocket for $149.99. We have to point out here, that this doesn’t seem to apply to all AT&T customers, over at rethink-wireless.com, the lowered prices seem to affect customers in certain areas, although there doesn’t seem to be a listing to back this up, surprising!

Before we give you a basic specs rundown for both the Vivid and Skyrocket, its worth considering the Samsung’s new price, it actually retails for $50 less than the popular Galaxy S II device without LTE.

First up the Vivid will come packed with a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS with HTC’s new Sense user interface, 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 to the front, 16GB of internal memory and so on.

On the other hand, the Skyrocket although it equals the same screen size, it will benefit from a Super Amoled Plus display, 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, Android 2.3.5 OS, 8 megapixel rear camera and 2 to the front and 16GB of internal memory expandable with a microSD card.

Tell us if you have been tempted by either of these AT&T devices? If not, let us know what’s ticking the boxes for you, perhaps it’s the forthcoming Galaxy Nexus or even the current iPhone 4S?
