The Apple iPhone 4S and its battery-draining saga continues guys. Already reported by us here at OSM, it seems that many of you are still heading onto Apple forums to air your handset problem, along with feelings of disappointment and frustration. Despite Apple’s iPhone 4S pumping out another hour’s 3G talk time compared to its predecessor the iPhone 4, in fact, the new iPhone 4S falls short as cnet.com reported, by 100 hours in relation to standby time.
Battery life draining has been noted with either the handset being used just for a short time, or even in some cases, when the phone is left alone. One factor that could possibly be causing this is that of the new iOS 5 OS, as the problem has affected some using the iPhone 4. Despite the new hardware being introduced to Apple’s platform with adequate testing carried out before arrival, the new iOS 5 could in fact carry bugs affecting the battery life, or could it be down to reports of a time zone setting being turned off?
Apple has been criticized already by some, saying that this reflects the problems of last year’s iPhone 4 “antennagate” and the way in which the Cali company handled that. Customers are taking to the forums in their numbers with hope that Apple will rectify this ongoing battery problem, its been suggested that a software update is now needed.
Over on wired.com, there has been mention of a handful of solutions that can be tried on your smartphone. One is letting the handset drain completely down until it turns itself off then fully charge it back up, another from an Apple user, talks about disabling the calendar in the Exchange mail account to then enable it again, improving the battery usage.
Let us know how you are getting on with your new iPhone 4S? Is it suffering from poor battery use? Have you managed to rectify it and how?
