Galaxy Nexus rival Skyrocket: battle of Samsung

South Korean company Samsung this year, have impressed us with a host of devices, from smartphones, tablets through to 3D TV’s and they’re not stopping there. Before the year is out, its safe to say that the Galaxy S II smartphone is still selling as well as it did when first released with the company’s yearly figure of units already being smashed. Now we’ve got a Galaxy Nexus to look forward to in the next two weeks, along with a new addition, that of the Galaxy S II Skyrocket.

In terms of release date, the Skyrocket is reported to arrive on November 6th through US carrier AT&T along with another that of the HTC Vivid (the first two benefiting from AT&T’s 4G), whilst the Galaxy Nexus remains a mystery. First up it was rumored to be arriving on Verizon around November 10th, but today our very own Peter Chubb has spoken about a leaked Verizon roadmap, detailing the Galaxy Nexus arrival on Black Friday, that’s November 25th this year.

Specs wise, it will come down to personal preference and what your budget allows. The Galaxy Nexus from Samsung is a huge contender, with a 4.65-inch display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Android’s spanking brand new 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, NFC, 5 megapixel CMOS rear camera and 1.3 to the front and so on.

The Skyrocket on the otherhand, benefits from a slightly smaller 4.5-inch display, massive 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, running on Android’s 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS, 8 megapixel rear camera with 2 megapixel to the front and so on.

Let us know whether one of these two is ticking the boxes for you? Is it a fair competition between the two?

has better specs than the galaxy nexus, better camera, (in my opinion looks better), has LTE  and was confirmed to be receiving ice cream sandwich later this year / very early 2012. will be getting skyrocket sunday as well!

The Nexus will have a better camera, looks nicer, has LTE and HSPA+, NFC, pure Google experience with fastest updates, and comes preinstalled with Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

I’m getting the Skyrocket, but ICS has been confirmed for 2Q 2012 per Sammy. That’s pathetic. #FragmentationFail

I just got the Skyrocket on Sunday and it’s hard to imagine a larger display. Don’t have LTE in this area yet but the HPSA + speeds are very nice. I’m just moving over from ios to Android so I dont know what the difference is between gingerbread and ICS. All I can say is that I love the phone and the transition to Android is not that hard. The battery could be a bit better, but of course I’m playing with it quite a bit. At least it is not a hand warmer like the Bionic was that I took back to Verizon last week
