Apple’s iPad school take over

The use of iPad tablets in schools is by no means a new concept, previously here at OSM, we’ve spoken about how the popular device is being introduced into the classroom for teachers and pupils alike. But what we found interesting is that of a recent survey which shows how the iPad slate is being tested out in US schools with its introduction into the classroom over the next five years.

In fact, PC’s will be pushed out in favor of the iPad. The results concluded from analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, have showed that some 25 educational technology directors at a recent conference of classroom integrated technology, are in favor of bringing the iPad into school establishments with some already testing its use, whilst rival Android tablets are not even getting a look in!

As well as other interesting statistics to come out of the survey, it has been reported from AppleInsider, that in the next five years, there will be approximately six students per iPad as oppose to ten students per computer at the present time. Computers will still play an active part within the school setting, with the use of the iPad tablet being used as an additional tool.

What are your thoughts on the iPad becoming an active tool within classrooms? Do you think that at some point, it will replace the paper-based textbooks?
