Twitter remembers Jimmy Savile 84

Thoughts today are with radio and TV’s Sir Jimmy Savile who passed away at the age of 84 after suffering from pneumonia, he was two days off celebrating his 85th birthday.

Many will remember him for his show “Jim’ll Fix It,” in which he made dreams come true for some young children and as a Top of the Pops presenter who was the first and last on the popular music show. Alongside this Jimmy Savile also played an active part in supporting charities and fundraising, he raised over £40 million according to the dailymail.co.uk.

Born in Leeds on coincidentally Halloween in 1926 to add to another six siblings, Jimmy Savile was the son of a bookmaker’s clerk and Agnes who right up until the end he called the “Duchess.”

Online social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook have been paying their respects too. It was tweeted he was “A great British institution.”

Another said, “RIP Jimmy Savile. An icon to the end. And of course the first-and last-presenter of TOTP.”
