Apple EFI Firmware update: iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook Air and Pro

As always with the Cali company Apple, their need to improve and fix issues results in a multitude of firmware updates. The latest is that of an EFI firmware update that is recommended for users of iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook Air and Pro models.

The most recent update is believed to fix issues with the current gen Mac models which will help fix several issues, in the long term users will see an improvement with stability of devices with the Lion Recovery from an Internet connection, including Apple’s Thunderbolt Display compatibility and Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode performance.

Also to come out of the new EFI firmware update, will be minor adjustments to QuickTime for Windows and iPhoto. As AppleInsider were keen to report, an EFI 1.7 update will benefit the iMac with Lion Recovery from the Internet Connection as already mentioned above, with issues surrounding compatibility with the Thunderbolt Display and Target Disk Mode performance. Download 3.69MB requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or as reported, Mac OS X 10.7 or later.

For the Mac Mini mid 2011 devices, an EFI 1.3 firmware update has been issued, yet again improving the problems already listed. The download weighs 4.26MB and needs a Mac OS X Lion 10.7 or later.

MacBook Air mid 2011 models, will require a EFI 2.1 update with issues improved, with the MacBook Pro requiring a EFI 2.3 update, this needs a 4.17MB download, requiring a Mac OS X 10.6.8 or OS X Lion.
