X-Factor UK: Twitter predicts boys winner

Within the last couple of weeks Gary Barlow, X-Factor UK judge and Take That member, joined Twitter very publicly on the live show, which saw him gain thousands of followers within hours.

In fact Gary Barlow now has over 422,000 followers on Twitter, and in this weeks X-Factor show he said, “I am loving it”. You can join Barlow on his official Twitter account here, although there has been some confusion at first when people started joining the wrong account with a spelling error of the word “official”. Be aware that the correct account is “GBarlowOfficial”.

One recent Tweet by Barlow asked “Morning all, show the boys some love today and give em some votes please @CraigColtonUK @FrankieCocozza @MarcuscollinsUK”, which links with the Twitter accounts for the X-Factor Boys category.

We’ve known Twitter to be a good indicator of different contests in the past thanks to the amount someone is followed, or being mentioned on Twitter in a negative or positive way. Looking at the followers on Twitter accounts for Marcus Collins, Craig Colton and Frankie Cocozza shows one clear winner in terms of Twitter followers.

Cocozza has 191,536 followers at the time of writing, and this is around three times the amount of any other boy. Do you expect Frankie Cocozza to go further than any other boy, and possibly win X-Factor 2011?
