US Lady’s First Time Of Hearing: YouTube Captures

Viral video sharing site YouTube which launched back in 2005, attracts millions of visitors to its webpage every week. Music, favorite TV/movie clips, advertisements and so on can all be viewed in front of your very eyes and at times for those involved in the videos, it can or has already been an opening door to stardom.

Our articles in relation to YouTube have varied somewhat with news of the Nyan cat, Pumped Up Kicks Dubstep, 4-year old Preacher, clips of new and upcoming devices, Angry Birds Rap and so on. Today’s clip which caught our eye and actually by over 1 million people, is that of a 29-year old woman Sarah Churman who up until has not been able to hear anything around her.

The US citizen according to the dailymail.co.uk, was kitted out with the latest hearing implant some nine weeks ago. Caught on video by her husband, nurses turned on the implant for the first time, allowing Sarah to hear everything around her including her very own voice. Not surprising that in elation, Sarah broke down in tears.

When asked by the nurse whether everything appeared loud, she said “no,” although she did comment that her laugh was. Attached to the YouTube video, Sarah wrote, “I was born deaf and 8 weeks ago I received a hearing implant.”

What touched us, is that the 29-year old can not only hear her husband but that of her three-year old daughter. Relying on hearing aids and lip reading up until, Sarah can now lead a normal life.

Replying to those who commented on how well Sarah spoke she said, “My hearing loss was/is considered severe to profound. I’ve worked very hard to be able to interact and blend in…only thing I can say is “God is good.” One question that many have asked is who provided the hearing implant and where Sarah had it fitted. We can tell you that it was provided from Envoy Medical and called Esteem.
