Facebook New Changes: Rumors Say Pay, Not True

Social networking site Facebook has now reached the 800 million mark in terms of users and to alter the way in which people can share content, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has changed the entire layout. As announced last week, the new “Timeline” has it’s now known, will give users a new profile page, content sharing with music, games, videos and so on will be made easier and across more platforms, with one more feature that we spoke about yesterday, enabling you to see who has “defriended” you in the past.

The new Timeline has come with mixed reaction from users, with a large percentage of you wanting Facebook to stay as it is. This we wanted to find out from you, our readers, do you like the new changes or not, comments below would be much appreciated.

In the last few days, status updates have been rife across Facebook, with news that the new changes will now come at a price. Users who received the updates, were told that they would be charged for the privilege of using the site. This we can happily say is not the case, the news was completely false and the use of Facebook will still remain FREE.

One such message that we received on our Facebook accounts read: “THIS IS OFFICIAL… IT WAS EVEN ON THE NEWS… FACEBOOK WILL START CHARGING DUE TO THE NEW PROFILE CHANGES… IF YOU COPY THIS ON YOUR WALL YOUR ICON WILL TURN BLUE AND FACEBOOK WILL BE FREE FOR YOU. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON, IF NOT YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF YOU DO NOT PAY!!”

Another that was making the rounds across the popular site read: “FACEBOOK JUST RELEASED THEIR PRICE GRID FOR MEMBERSHIP. $9.99 PER MONTH FOR GOLD MEMBER SERVICES, $6.99 PER MONTH FOR SILVER MEMBER SERVICES, $3.99 PER MONTH FOR BRONZE MEMBER SERVICES, FREE IF YOU COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. WHEN YOU SIGN ON TOMORROW MORNING YOU WILL BE PROMPTED FOR PAYMENT INFO…IT IS OFFICIAL IT WAS EVEN ON THE NEWS. FACEBOOK WILL START CHARGING DUE TO THE NEW PROFILE CHANGES.”

Mashable reported that Facebook were keen to comment in response to the untrue rumors by saying, “It’s free and always will be.”

As we mentioned above previously, let us know your thoughts towards the new Facebook changes? Do you like or not? For instance, would you like to see who “defriended” you in the past?
