Facebook Tribute To 9/11 Victims: Memorial App Allows

Ten years on and the devastating events that took place across America on September 11th 2001 are a stark reminder of the 3,000 victims that lost their lives that day. On what started off as a bright sunny day ended up with a grey skyline and what would be the start of an emotional roller-coaster for those left behind. As well as the World Trader Center being deliberately attacked by terrorist group Al-Qaeda in which the twin towers collapsed to everybody’s utter shock and upset, The Pentagon was targeted as well as two other planes Flight 93 and Flight 77 crashing.

As we approach the tenth anniversary of those horrific attacks and loss of live, many will be remembering their loved ones by different ways. Some will no doubt travel to Ground Zero whilst others will hold private memorials and vigils. To think about those that passed away that day, social networking site Facebook with the help of app maker Involver have designed an app in keeping with the β€œThe National September 11 Memorial & Museum.”

As mashable reported, the app will allow members of Facebook to change their profile photos and update their statuses to remember victims that lost their lives. Even if as individuals we were not directly affected, as a Nation we were and still are. I myself watched the events unfold on that fateful day and when its anniversary comes around every year, it clearly gives us reason to remember and realise how precious human life is!

Maker Involver and their Senior VP of Marketing Jascha Kaykas-Wolff commented on the app by saying, β€œThe goal of the application is to honor and remember victims of this devastating attacks on America 10 years later.”

When the app is accessed, the user will be asked to donate to their status, this basically means that from the 3,000 lost victims across all four 9/11 attacks, users will be able to pick a single victim. This then will give you the ability to change your status. The newly designed app will be featured across Facebook on celebrity pages, Presidential candidate pages, individuals of Congress and so on.

Tell us where you were that fateful day on September 11th 2001? Were you directly affected, perhaps you yourself live in NYC? Will you be using the app to remember?
