HTC Holiday 4G LTE Speed Tests: Almost Too Good to be True

We’ve been bringing you all the news about the HTC Holiday, the upcoming handset thought to be among the first 4G LTE smartphones for AT&T’s upcoming LTE network. This phone was already looking very impressive and now further images and also LTE speed tests have come to light. The speed test results seem almost too good to be true but if accurate the HTC Holiday could be the phone of your dreams.

We’ve already likened the HTC Holiday on Ma Bell to the Motorola Droid Bionic, which is due out in a couple of days for Verizon’s LTE network. The HTC Holiday is set to include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a mammoth 4.5-inch qHD display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and 1GB of RAM, all running on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and also HTC Sense 3.0. It also includes Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. We also recently saw some leaked images but today some clear shots have come to our attention from Jonathan S. Geller over on BGR.

These new photos show the Holiday on the AT&T LTE network and speed tests were also conducted, in the Dallas area of Texas. The download speed test results are pretty astounding, peaking at an incredible 29.71Mbps. BGR point out that this is faster than the best speeds they’ve ever seen on Verizon’s LTE 4G network and those were already pretty notable so these AT&T LTE results are highly significant. Of course we have to point out that currently the AT&T LTE network is under testing and hasn’t yet been officially launched so there’s not much (if any) other traffic to contend with but nevertheless this is remarkable stuff.

If you want to read more about the HTC Holiday an interesting article over on International Business Times looks at the Droid HD and the HTC Holiday and asks which is the main rival to the Galaxy S II. We’ve no release date for the HTC Holiday yet but it’s expected in the next few months and we have also heard rumors that it may be renamed the Waikiki!
