White Samsung Galaxy S II Seen Online: Expensive Option?

Samsung’s new Galaxy S II smartphone has been wowing a huge audience of consumers for the last 2 or so months. Just recently released, the handset is now available in most countries barr the US and if the news is anything to go on, many will be waiting for its arrival for a tad bit longer. Moving into the tail end of the year now, Samsung’s target was to sell at least 10 million units which to be frank, is a pretty achievable figure based on sold units up until now.

As well as the black version being available, there is also now a white model which can be purchased on the UK networks such as O2, Orange and Three who are all offering the handset. From a past article we brought you on August 23rd, it seemed that pre-orders for the white were being taken in Japan with a release date expected on September 9th but as we mentioned above, as to when the US will receive the Galaxy S II in its variant form and whether a white version will be offered is yet to be seen.

Today according to Popherald.com, the white Galaxy S II can now be seen being unboxed on viral video site YouTube, courtesy of Geekanoid. In terms of specs, there is no difference apart from the price which we have to say is a little on the hefty side. Before we give you that information we’ll remind you of the Samsung’s features which include, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor which outshines Motorola’s new Droid Bionic and possibly the new iPhone 5 when it lands, 4.3-inch Super Amoled Plus display, 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel to the front, TouchWiz custom UI as well as running on Android’s 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

Price wise, to pick up a white version will set you back in the region of between $750 to $800 which if compared to the standard black is at least $100 more. As popherald.com pointed out, other US Galaxy S II variants will still no doubt be cheaper to purchase than the SIM unlocked white or even black models. Although for instance carrier Sprint was listing the Galaxy S II or Epic 4G Touch as its now known for $199.99 with a 2-year data plan, our very own Debbie spoke just yesterday of a $149.99 deal that can be had.

Tell us if you are waiting for the Galaxy S II Stateside and if so does the white version appeal to you? Would you be willing to part with nearly $800 for a cellphone?
