Droid Bionic Verizon Release Edges Closer: Preview & Video

We know that many of OSM readers are getting pretty excited about the release of the Motorola Droid Bionic, coming to Verizon on September 8. We’ve been keeping you up to date with leaks, TV ads and more but today as we edge closer to the Droid Bionic release we wanted to look at a preview that’s come to light and also a new video.

News of a look at the Droid Bionic by one lucky guy who’s managed to get his hands on this Android smartphone, Joe the Insider, came to us from Phil Nickinson over on Android Central sourced from Android Central Forums. Some new images are also included, one of which we’ve shown below. The pre-launch review is full of admiration for the Droid Bionic and many of you who can’t wait to get hold of it yourselves will be relieved that it seems to have been worth the wait.

The phone is said to be “extremely light” and also thin so that’s promising for a start and ‘Joe’ goes on to say that start up is “ridiculously fast.” The camera problem evident on the Droid 3 is not a problem with no lag occurring and sound is also praised as “surprisingly good.” The battery is also confirmed as being a sizeable 1730mAh. The only mild gripe seems to be that the power button is awkwardly positioned. So far, so good.

Now onto a new video, brought to our attention by Mark Chubb over on Phones Review. The YouTube footage, posted by Bworley65 has no audio but gives an interesting look at the Droid Bionic, including a lovely teaser of the packaging. You can see the video below this story. The video is just over a minute long and also confirms the Bionic will be running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread on launch. We reckon the video and preview combined will satisfy a lot of intended Droid Bionic purchasers.

I’m going to wait and see what phones come out this month and next month and then make a decision. The Nexus Prime/Droid Prime looks very promising if it is 4g LTE. Will check out HTC Vigor and LG Revolution 2 as well.
