iPhone 5 To Worry: Sony Ericsson 2012 “Nozomi” Coming?

With just four months now until the Christmas holiday season, it will be interesting to see what 2012 will have in store for us in terms of new devices. From the start of this year, we have seen a massive influx of smartphones and tablets including the very popular iPad 2 from Apple, as well as 3DTV’s, gaming consoles, cameras and so on.

The new year is set to bring us Nintendo’s new Wii U console plus news of Sony’s Vita as well as a possible iPhone 6. But what’s interested us today is indication that a new smartphone from Sony Ericsson could be making its way to the market, which in turn could give Apple’s iPhone 5 a run for its money. Ok, so the fifth gen hasn’t appeared yet but many are now hoping that its launch will be a matter of weeks now.

So what can we tell you about the new Sony codenamed the Nozomi?” According to Desire Athow over at ITProportal.com the fresh faced smartphone is rumored to launch as the company’s flagship device in 2012 paving the way for others to follow. If we are to believe the specs, then the Nozomi will include a mighty 1.5GHz dual-core processor which will knock the socks off of the Samsung Galaxy S II, Apple’s iPhone 5, Motorola’s Droid Bionic and so on. Falling in line with some of the other rivals, the display may be that of a 4.3-inch with an High Definition resolution.

Along with this, the new Sony Ericsson may possibly benefit from 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSIM which will be the first for the company, sporting a 1750mAh battery and the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) which will give you the user, the option to pay for purchases using the mobile device.

At the present time we have to point out that this is only pure speculation, but any further news to this, we will jump on it straight away and let you guys know. Samsung’s Galaxy S II is yet to release in the US, the Motorola Droid Bionic is now confirmed for a September 8th release and as for the iPhone 5 it is hoped to be available in the coming weeks. Many no doubt are of the opinion that the Apple smartphone once launched, will be a force to be reckoned with but will the Nozomi give the huge tech company reason to worry?

The yearly Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona may give us this very answer when the new Sony is due to be launched.

Tell us your thoughts. Are you happy to wait for the new iPhone 5 or perhaps something else has caught your eye?
