Sony Ericsson 3D Xperia Arc S: Specs Reveal at IFA 2011

It hardly seems any time at all since the US saw the release of the unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, a handset that had been available in many regions around the world but seemed to be a long time before it arrived stateside. However at IFA 2011 in Berlin, Sony Ericsson revealed the Xperia arc S, bumped up to a 1.4GHz processor and the ability to shoot 3D and 2D sweep panorama photography.

The Xperia arc wooed a lot of consumers with its sleek styling and lines and the Xperia arc S has the same beautiful design and will be available in white, black, blue, silver and pink. As well as that beefed-up processor, the arc S has a 4.3-inch Reality display with resolution of 854 x 480 with Mobile BRAVIA engine, 8GB of storage and an 8.1-megapixel rear camera with Exmor R for mobile image sensor. Users will be able to view 3D sweep panorama images with the use of HDMI output connecting the phone to a 3D TV.

There’s also access to Sony Entertainment Network services, Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited. The Xperia arc S will run on Android 2.3. Gingerbread, according to Todd Haselton over on BGR where you can also see the full press release. According to Sony the “Xperia™ arc S features 25% faster camera start up and media conversion, along with 20% faster web page rendering compared to Xperia™ arc.”

There’s no word yet on pricing although the release is set for Q4 this year according to the press release. However another report, this time by Alex Dobie over on Android Central, cites a release date of October so there’s really not too much longer to wait if you think this might be your next smartphone choice.
