Is iPhone 5 Headed to T-Mobile as Well as Sprint? New Reports

Following the sad news of the resignation of Steve Jobs from Apple and its possible impact on Apple stock, we want to turn out attention back to the next expected Apple product, the iPhone 5. Only yesterday we reported on the latest news that Sprint is also set to carry the iPhone 5 along with Verizon and A&T and now there are further reports that T-Mobile will also carry the iPhone 5.

For some time we imagined the next iPhone would also be carried by Sprint and T-Mobile but a week ago we started to wonder if this would happen after all. The news yesterday then was great for Sprint customers waiting for the iPhone 5 but it seemed then as though T-Mobile customers may be left out in the cold. A contact within T-Mobile has now told how the iPhone 5 will indeed be coming to T-Mobile and released in early to mid-October. Mid-October was the timeframe quoted yesterday for the release by the other 3 carriers and so this would certainly fit.

The news came to us from Chris Burns over on Slash Gear, sourced from MacTrast. As yet none of this is confirmed and as the source wishes to remain anonymous and is third party we cannot verify this information but if you’re hoping that the iPhone 5 coming to T-Mobile may be 4G then think again. The same T-Mobile source also said, “We expect the addition of the iPhone, and the iPhone 5′s ability to run on our 3G network to make a significant financial difference for T-Mobile.”

Eric Slivka over on MacRumors also reports on the MacTrast information and states that the device on T-Mobile is a “realistic possibility” following reports that an iPhone was currently being tested for T-Mobile’s 3G network. We also told how the iPhone 5 was rumored to support multiple networks.
