Pre-order Your HTC EVO 3D Now: Out 6th September

After much anticipation and speculation, the HTC EVO 3D is finally available to pre-order in the UK. The second ever glasses free 3D smartphone is due for a full launch on September 6th, but you can reserve your handset from the Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy now. HTC’s flagship Android device offers the ability of video recording and image taking in passive 3D.

T3 reports that the EVO 3D will be available on a 2 year contract for £36 a month. If a contract does not turn you on then you may be pleased to know the handset can be bought SIM-free on pay as you go, but for a steep price of £599. It seems more viable to go with the contract for this high end smartphone, especially if you will be using it frequently. Even more so if you plan to eat up 3G or 4G data.

It is actually quite lucky that a contract is available for the EVO as it was initially thought that they would not be available. According to Tech Radar, Vodafone pulled out of a deal to stock the handset and it was feared that contracts would not be offered, as well as a hefty delay hitting consumers. The first major 3D smartphone out on the market was the LG Optimus 3D and they now have another rival to contend with. 3D is becoming an increasingly in demand feature with many devices now adopting it, like Sony’s first ever digital binoculars and possibly the Xbox 720.

HTC does however have a big advantage over other 3D contenders which is its app “HTC Watch”. If you are a fan of the third dimension then you will be happy to know your smartphone and 3DTV can go hand in hand with each other. The app allows you to play any 3D movies you have on your EVO through your enabled TV via an HDMI cable, with a 3D movie coming pre-loaded on the phone. Will you buy the EVO 3D?
