iPhone 5 Predicted Specs Infographic: Apple iPhone Road So Far

We’ve been constantly updating our readers with Apple iPhone 5 news and speculation and just in the last few days have talked about a reaffirmed potential release date, iPhone 5 price and more component leaks showing a battery of around the same power as the iPhone 4. Today we have news of an interesting infographic, which uses predicted specs of the iPhone 5 to show the path of the Apple iPhone so far.

We’re no strangers to infographics here at OSM and previous ones we’ve brought you about the iPhone 5 were details of the iPhone 5 and its main rivals and another back in June of rumored specs and features at that time. This latest infographic came to our attention from Dusan Belic over on IntoMobile and you can see the full infographic below this story. It’s certainly intriguing to see the iPhone evolution from the first iPhone back in January 2007 (can it really be that recent!) through all it’s various incarnations. Starting then with the original iPhone, we then see details of the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and the as yet unreleased iPhone 5.

The infographic shows various categories for all the iPhone models including the processor, display, connectivity, camera, apps and more and it shows how far Apple has progressed with the iPhone in a relatively short space of time. For example the processor of the first iPhone was a 412MHz ARM 11 and by the iPhone 4 that had evolved to a 1GHz A4 processor. The iPhone 5 expected processor is shown as a 1GHz A5 dual-core processor, another step up.

The camera has also come a long way, from a 2-megapixel fixed-focus shooter on the original iPhone, moving to an auto-focus 3.2-megapixel on the iPhone 3GS and what is predicted to be an 8-megapixel auto-focus for the iPhone 5. Another aspect that we found fascinating was the apps. When the initial iPhone was first announced back in 2007 there were no apps (unsurprisingly). However, by the time we got to the iPhone 3GS in 2009 there were 50,000 apps available and by October 2011, when we expect to see the iPhone 5 launched, there will be a staggering 500,000+ apps available.
