iPhone 5: Pre-Order Yours In September For Oct 7th Launch?

Is this the news that we’ve all been hoping for? Apple’s next generation iPhone 5 has been the talk of the town for a while now and rumors have been circling as to its design, specs sheet, price, name and the big question of its release? Just today we brought you news that Telefonica were cutting back their iPhone 4 stock from August 22nd right through to September 12th, which led many of us to believe that the iPhone 5 would be arriving near to the latter date. Along with this our very own Debbie brought you news that a white version as well as the standard black was looking more than promising and Matt asked whether its now too late to start testing 4G LTE support for the iPhone 5.

Although nothing concrete has come from this date, things are hotting up this evening with news that the iPhone 5 could now be pre-ordered from September 30th with a view to the handset launching on October 7th.

The device and its release date has been batted about since Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference at the beginning of June when many hoped the phone would show itself, of course this wasn’t the case leaving many deflated and news that we would then have to wait until after the summer months.

Slashgear’s Rue Liu via 9to5 Mac reported that sources known to them, have stated that the new iPhone would launch on either October 7th or 14th, the first date being more promising, with pre-orders of the device starting to be taken on September 30th.

Let’s hope that there is some substance to this news, as the iPhone 5 is needed really now, there’s some big smartphones coming out and Apple really need that “extra special something” to wow potential consumers. The iPhone 4 although still proving popular is now one year old and on an annual basis, Steve Jobs company are synonymous with producing a new device within that time-scale. Big contenders ready to take on Apple’s device include, Samsung’s Galaxy S II, Motorola’s Droid Bionic, HTC Ruby (Amaze 4G) and so on.

What are your thoughts on this latest news? Are you taking it with a pinch of salt until such time or are you still trying to calm yourself?
