Galaxy S II Boost for US Release: Wins Best Mobile in Europe Award

The Samsung Galaxy S II handset is still the smartphone that everybody is talking about, especially in the US where it has still to be released. We’d say the Galaxy S II is set to be a smash success when it finally hits stateside but it seems that it could receive yet another boost for US sales because of the fact that it has just been given the accolade of being the best mobile phone product in Europe.

We’ve been giving you as much information as we can about the S II, sometimes dubbed Galaxy S2, and just in the last few days have told of a Samsung event on August 29, where we expect the Galaxy S II for the US to be launched and a possible release at the same time as the Motorola Droid Bionic. Earlier today we also told how the Samsung Celox looks as though it could be the Verizon variant of the Galaxy S II including 4G LTE support. We’d say the hype for the Galaxy S II in the US at the moment is matched only by that of the Droid Bionic and of course the Apple iPhone 5 and as Samsung has been raking in European awards, this will only encourage people further to plump for the Galaxy S II.

The awards concerned are the much-respected EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association) awards for 2011-2012 and the Galaxy S II was given the European Mobile Phone Award, according to Miles J Thomas over on 3G.co.uk, beating off all the competition. It’s worth noting that EISA is an association across 19 European countries taking into account 50 special interest magazines. Winning this award then is quite an endorsement. Indeed Samsung, who keep on coming up with the goods, came away with 4 product awards from EISA.

Over on the Sammy Hub we’re informed that as well as the Galaxy S II taking the best product mobile phone award, Samsung also received awards for the following; Best Social Media Camera – Samsung SH100, Best Compact System Lens – Samsung NX 20-50mm F3.5-5.6 ED i-Function, Best Buy TV – Samsung UE40D6505. A good result for Samsung then and one of the most interesting smartphone battles of the year looks likely to be a three-way, between the Galaxy S II, the Droid Bionic and the iPhone 5.

Are you intending to make the Samsung Galaxy S II your next smartphone? If you were still considering your options, will the fact that the Galaxy S II has won the best European Mobile Phone sway you to choose the Galaxy S II? Why not let us know with your comments.
