Motorola Droid Bionic Intrigue: More details to be revealed

The Motorola Droid Bionic is no doubt among the most hotly anticipated smartphones of the year and we’ve detailed speculation and news about this Android handset in a myriad of articles. Although we’ve covered a multitude of rumors about the Droid Bionic, today we are noting a certain amount of Bionic intrigue as it seems that more detail could yet be revealed.

Just some of our recent posts about the Droid Bionic include the possibility of a release at the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S II and its inclusion in our posts about iPhone 5 rivals. Indeed we’ve covered so much it would be difficult to imagine more could be uncovered yet that we haven’t already heard about. However Kellex over on Droid-Life has brought our attention to an updated Droid Bionic ‘coming soon’ letter on Motorola’s media website.

Although as you can see here the page still shows an April date, which was when an announcement was made about the Droid Bionic being delayed for ‘enhancements’ it is actually completely new content. One thing that will please many is the confirmation that the Droid Bionic will be released in September as we have previously reported. Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha originally let loose with the September launch date, which was news many were waiting for, and it and the updated statement says that the company is still “expecting to launch DROID BIONIC this September.”

As well as this, Motorola talks of its excitement about the improvements that have now been incorporated. We told not long ago how Motorola needed to go that extra mile to provide a phone well worth the long wait that many potential Verizon customers have tolerated and it seems that Motorola is certainly satisfied with what it’s come up with. The update concludes that Motorola is “looking forward to revealing more details as we get closer to launch,” which is certainly a bit of a teaser. Of course this could just be the usual confirmation of specs, pricing etc., but maybe, just maybe, Motorola has been hiding something that we hadn’t expected about the Droid Bionic to surprise us all with.

Adam Mills over on Gotta Be Mobile also reports on this updated Motorola letter about the Droid Bionic and notes that two pleasant surprises would be a good battery performance and an unlocked bootloader. We’ve recently posted articles on these possibilities so check the links for more. One thing we do know for sure is that Motorola is doing a pretty good job so far of racking up the excitement for the Bionic and so must be reasonably convinced that it has come up with the goods with this 4G LTE handset, the alternative being that many people could feel let down.

Are you one of those who have waited for the Droid Bionic and if so what rabbit would you like to see Motorola pull out of the proverbial hat? Do you think there’s an additional surprise for the Bionic that we’ve not yet considered? Let us know with your comments.

How about an update processor to a 1.2 or 1.4 GHZ dual core Texas Instrument. Other than that I’d just like to see the phone in a store.

A more powerful processor would be a great addition but that’s a great point you made about just wanting to see it available at last. I think many will agree with you. Thanks for reading!

That is very old news. That page was updated right after Jha made the comment about the Bionic arriving in September. I constantly check the site and that page for updates and there haven’t been any for a while. You would think the Bionic was some top secret device or something. Geez.

The Samsung phone allegedly coming out the same day as the Bionic is not the SGSII. It is the Samsung slider phone whose pic was leaked a few weeks ago. It is more like the Epic on Sprint.
