Samsung Galaxy XCover: WaterProof All Terrain Spec

As mobile devices reach their pinnacle in technology they become more and more expensive and valuable. Smart phones at the moment can contain almost your whole life in one small package, there will be apps for your banking details, your shopping needs recognised by an eBay app and your entire life held on with your Facebook app. This is without a thought to the multitude of photos, music and movies stored on your handheld gadget.

Things are not set to get any better either, with the introduction of NFC to smartphones, this will mean that the need to use your wallet or purse will soon be a thing of the past. With this in mind it comes as no surprise that when we acquire our latest handset one of the first things we look at is a way to protect it. As we have reported on a number of occasions, there are a mass of aftermarket manufacturers able to furnish our toys with all manner of protective cases and covers.

But sometimes our slender devices suffer with a bulky unwieldy covering, spoiling the lines, all in order just to stop it getting damaged, surely there must be a solution?

Well according to Slash Gear, Samsung may have just the answer in the form of a new handset based on their extremely popular Galaxy range. Currently the new Galaxy S II has just come onto the market, with the US waiting for it anyday now and news of a Galaxy R plus Celox on the way. The new handset named the Galaxy XCover is said to offer a powerful Android smartphone with a built-in hardcore nature ready for almost anything that you can throw at it. Being scratch-proof, waterproof and dust-proof, the XCover could make accessory cases a thing of the past, and will no-doubt be a favourite for those that work outside of a clean office environment.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy Xcover will include a 3.6-inch display possibly made of Gorilla Glass, 3.2 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, GPS, WiFi, 3G and of course peace of mind that it will be protected. From what we know so far, the new Galaxy is coming to the country of Germany in October, with the hope that others will follow.

Of course we will let you know of any updates. Give us your thoughts on the new Galaxy XCover, is this something you would be interested in?
