Nintendo DS To Offer CoD MW3: No Version For 3DS

For excited Call of Duty fans awaiting the games highly anticipated launch in November we have some more good news, the shooter game will be available for the Nintendo DS and DSi. Activision confirmed the good news and announced that the the handheld version of the game will launch after the console version. Modern Warfare 3 will also be coming to Nintendo’s other console, the Wii.

Strangely it is not Infinity Ward and co who are developing the Wii and DS version of the immensely popular game. It is games studio Treyarch who are responsible for the Wii version of the game, and “n-Space” for the DS offering, T3 reports. You will know that Treyarch develop a new Call of Duty game every other year with the most recent, Black Ops breaking all kinds of records so we trust they will do a good job on MW3.

The games studio n-Space has so far been in charge of developing all DS versions of Call of Duty so far and will continue this. The fact that n-Space have a good reputation for creating the previous titles will go down well with DS owners. Sadly not everyone can be pleased, and this is because the game will not be coming in a 3D format for those who own a Nintendo’s 3DS console. This confirmed news has disappointed many, but n-Space insist it is not their fault.

According to Beef Jack, the developer has pleaded that fans of the game do not take their anger out on them. n-Space posted a message on their Facebook page saying that it is not up to them which platforms are supported. An official wrote: “You guys all need to understand that we make the games we are hired to make”. The studio went on to say that they are big fans of the 3DS and currently have 3 other titles for the handheld console in development.

Call of Duty Black Ops so far has been the first game to support 3D gaming and it is expected that Modern Warfare 3 will also support 3 dimensional gaming. This was only available to PS3 owners with a 3D TV, as Sony rolled out a software update to support this. It seems that Activision may have decided to boycott the 3DS as a result of its poor sales and failure to establish itself thus far. Is 3D ready for full scale gaming on titles like Call of Duty yet?

Traditionally the DS version of the game has a slightly different title to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC version. This continues as the latest DS title will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Defiance. The game will also come with color blind support to help and create a more enjoyable experience for those for suffer with such problems.
