Smartphones have changed quite a lot over the last couple of years with the increasing specifications and changes to overall general design. One that we have been keeping tabs on for some time is the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and now the UK price was is heating up ahead of its actual release date.
When you start looking at things like the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Motorola Droid Bionic and the fact they are now using dual-core processing you start to realize just how far the technology has come. The new BlackBerry device from RIM we had already heard would be delayed until September, which isn’t good on BlackBerry’s part, but they seem to have overcome whatever issues they had as the expected delivery date is August 18th!
We learned through Engadget’s Sharif Shakr where the author points out that the device now has a pre-order page available at Vodafone. The phone will be available for FREE on a pay-monthly contract for plans of £41. You can view all of the available deals from Vodafone by clicking on this link (all contracts are 24-months).
Of course, Vodafone aren’t the only people that will have the device. No sooner had Vodafone thrown their pre-order page up onto their site; Carphone Warehouse joined the party and added their own page with the device being cheaper! The pay monthly deal has the Bold 9900 for £31 PCM where the phone is FREE. You can view all of the available deals that Carphone Warehouse is offering on this link.
All in all this certainly looks like a decent device from BlackBerry with its 1.2GHz processor, 8GB of integrated storage, a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, a full QWERTY keyboard along with a 5 megapixel camera and the new BlackBerry 7 OS. There’s a pretty good demonstration of the device and its capabilities along with the other new devices from BlackBerry that you can have a look at on this link to their official website.
The real questions that many people around the world will have will be wondering how BlackBerry can compete with the likes of Apple and all of the other manufacturers that are sporting the Android OS. HTC, Samsung and Motorola are looking particularly strong at the moment with the likes of the Galaxy S II, the Droid Bionic and even the Sensation. Not only that but there are a number of devices just around the corner that will help cast a shadow over RIM’s new devices including the Galaxy S II variant called the Hercules and of course, the monstrous Apple iPhone 5.
