Samsung Conquer 4G Release: No Breaking Bank

Its all too easy to read news on the latest top of the range smartphones that are making their way to retailers, but we often forget that for some people, having a packed listing of specifications isn’t always the deal clincher. There are many devices making their way to us in the coming weeks and months, examples of this include the Motorola Droid Bionic, Photon 4G and Dinara, HTC Eternity, Apple iPhone 5 and some from Samsung including the Galaxy S II, possible Hercules, Nexus S 4G, EVO 4G and the Conquer 4G.

Its the latter that we wanted to put all our energies into when giving you updated news. Back at the end of June, our very own writer Debbie brought you a comparison between the Conquer and the Galaxy S II. Ok, so once you’ve seen the specs for both, its fairly apparent that the two are in different leagues of their own, but its nice to see a mid-range Sammy offering with the same 4G capability for less money.

So where do we start? Before we give you news of its price and release date, we’ll just give you a rundown of specs. The Conquer will include a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, smaller than the Galaxy S II’s 4.3-inch Super Amoled Plus display, in terms of camera, the Conquer will come with a 3.2 megapixel rear compared to a whooping 8 megapixel from the Galaxy S II, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera whilst the Galaxy S II provides a higher 2 megapixel.

Processing power for the economical model includes a 1GHz processor compared to the Galaxy S II’s 1.2GHz dual-core, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS for both although the Galaxy S II has the added TouchWiz User Interface and of course 4G.

As venturebeat.com reported, US carrier Sprint have now officially launched the Samsung Conquer 4G for a price of $99 on a two-year data plan.

What benefits you the consumer, is that on choosing the Conquer 4G, you will be purchasing it for the price above, whereas other devices such as the Nexus S and the EVO 4G will set you back $150 with a $50 rebate. We can also tell you that in terms of release date, Samsung’s offering will be available on August 21st, so not too much longer to wait.

Tell us whether you think the Conquer 4G deserves a mention and would you be tempted by its price? Or perhaps you are waiting for the new Galaxy S II which has already been released in most other countries barr the US which is rumored to receive it on August 12th?
