LG Thrill 4G Release Date Delayed: Now August 21st?

Whilst everyone is desperate to find out every miniscule piece of information as humanly possible about the Apple iPhone 5 there’s a number of other devices that also deserve some hype too. The Samsung Galaxy S II is one that has lived up to hype it received and is selling very well, now we have heard that the LG Thrill 4G’s release date has been delayed and it’s looking like it will be released on August 21st.

The phone that LG’s Thrill has been compared to the most has been the HTC EVO 3D purely because they have similar capabilities in terms of functionality. Of course with it being a 3D screen it is also likened by many to the underperforming Nintendo 3DS even though one is a smartphone and the other is a games console.

We previously heard that the Thrill 4G would be hitting Carphone Warehouse in the UK where we were talking about the prices you can expect to see for the new phone. We observed that you can buy the phone outright for £500 or that you can pick it up with a range of carriers on a 24 month contract for £35 per month.

The device has some pretty impressive specifications that you can read all about from LG’s official website by clicking here. Delays are never good, especially when it’s a hotly anticipated device. Should the Thrill 4G fall into that category? We think it should even though it’s rumored to be shipping with Android Froyo rather than the current Gingerbread 2.3 or the future version Ice Cream Sandwich.

We learned of this through an article over on Engadget by Christopher Trout who says that Radio Shack simply can’t seem to keep its hands on internal memos. The note that is bouncing around the web at the moment looks pretty official and it mentions that the LG Thrill will not launch on August 7th and that the new launch date is Sunday, August 21st. Engadget sourced Android Central for this information where author Jerry Hildenbrand has added some thoughts on the matter. He says that this delay could be between Radio Shack and AT&T so we are expecting people that have pre-ordered with them to be notified of this soon should it all be true.

We would like to know if anyone has pre-ordered this device through Radio Shack and if they have notified you yet to inform you of the delay? Tell us in the comments section or alternatively drop me a message on Twitter.

I pre-ordered from “the shack” on 7/26. Nobody has called me to say I
will not receive the phone on 8/7 as originally thought.
I’m gonna go in on 8/7 and get me my Thrill, or else the shack
is in for a world of pain
