US Galaxy S II Release: Carrier Preference? Samsung Asks

The new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone is proving a smash hit in many countries excluding the US who are still waiting for it to show its face. Unfortunately, the States have been waiting for some weeks now to get their hands on the device and additional news yesterday, has stated that a White Galaxy S II version will be coming to the UK September 1st.

Although news hasn’t been concrete, early predictions are pointing to a US release date on or around August 12th, with carrier Verizon possibly pushing the handset out but by a different name. Until we hear otherwise we can only take it as speculation, but a sign-up page has now gone live which if you head on over to it, will be able to gain up to date information which will be sent to you directly.

Today according to PopHerald.com, as well as name and email address having to be confirmed on the sign-up page, Korean tech giants Samsung are asking potential customers to state their preferred carrier. By the looks of it, people will be able to specify just one option be it, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile, so what is Samsung hoping to gain from having this information? Perhaps as our source stated, the company are hoping to launch the Galaxy S II on two carriers on the same day and may in turn question whether the least popular carriers will in fact be used.

Specs wise if you’re not offay with them, then we can tell you that the new Galaxy S II or change of name depending on what carrier is offered, will include a 4.3-inch Super Amoled Plus display, 8MP rear camera and 2MP to the front, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with TouchWiz version 4.0 on the handsets interface and so on.

As we also stated a day ago, Motorola have officially confirmed that their Droid Bionic will not be released until the month of September with a date on or around the 1st. This puts the US Galaxy S II ahead of its rival competitor with sales figures expected to rise even further in order to achieve the 10 million sales target by the end of 2011.

Samsung it seems are definitely upping their game presently with additional news pointing to two possible handsets coming in the pipeline one of which will include 3D and the other with Qwerty keyboard. Also in the past we’ve brought you rumored news about a possible upped dual-core processor of 2GHz, so if true lots to look forward to.

Give us your thoughts on the Galaxy S II coming to America? Are you waiting and let us know your carrier preference when registering on the sign-up page?
