Droid Bionic Official Early September: Galaxy S II Favored

Unfortunately news came through from Motorola yesterday that will disappoint a large number of customers, another delay for the new Droid Bionic. Over the last week or so, rumored news was pointing to a launch date of 4th August, but now those of you waiting will be doing so until the month of September.

According to Slashgear, news has now come direct from Motorola’s top man Sanjay Jha, who has indeed confirmed the Bionic’s arrival as well as news of two new tablets and another smartphone supporting 4G LTE, which will be released towards the end of this year.

We have to say we’ll a little disappointed for our readers, as a tweet from Motorola insinuated that the Droid Bionic was on its way in time for the summer, plus we know a sign-up page for the smartphone had been made available. Samsung with their Galaxy S II smartphone will no doubt be celebrating the delay, although not confirmed the Sammy phone may release on or around the 12th August so it will give them a head start before the Motorola and even Apple’s iPhone 5.

In terms of the Droid Bionic’s specifications, you can expect to get a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen display, running on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, 1GHz dual-core processor which is smaller than that of the Galaxy S II’s 1.2GHz, 8MP rear camera equalling that of the Samsung and so on.

So what do we know about the other 4G smartphone and two tablets? Unfortunately nothing for the 4G smartphone but for one tablet, we can tell you that it will be similar to that of the Motorola Xoom if not an extended version of it. The other slate is reported to be of a smaller size.

One piece of news that we wanted to give existing Motorola Xoom customers, is that of the 4G upgrade. This will be accessible again from September for free, but the only downside for customers, is that they may be without their device for up to a week as it has to be sent away.

After the waiting, all we can hope for is that the Droid Bionic when it finally arrives, will be a pretty speculator phone, Motorola obviously have faith that it will succeed ,when it will be possibly sitting side by side next to Apple’s next-gen!

Tell us if you are prepared to wait for the Motorola now or have you just given up with another handset in mind, perhaps the Galaxy S II is now your option?

Where did you get early September? Jha said simply September. Of course, he also said second quarter of this year and we all know that was untrue. That’s NOT “another delay”. The phone has been officially delayed one time to change phones. Last time I looked summer goes into September and that has been Motorola’s stance since last April when they said it would be available this summer.

It seems to be a very shaky phone so far so I don’t have high hopes for it if and when it comes out. If they do have to delay it again, they might as well junk it and concentrate on the Dinara. I’m hoping the Verizon SGSII variant (Function) will not have a slider keyboard. One of the lures of this phone is the slim design.
