Star Wars Xbox 360 Bundle: R2-D2 Console To Cost £350

Gaming fans and Star Wars fans may just be in heaven looking at what is coming from a galaxy far far away. That’s right an Xbox 360 kitted out to resemble everyone’s favorite droid R2-D2. This special console comes in a bundle to celebrate the launch of the latest Star Wars game for Kinect, everyone wield your imaginary lightsabers and get ready for some Jedi action.

The R2-D2 themed Xbox 360 is just the start, there is also a never seen before gold controller that resembles the cyborg C-3PO, accompanying the copy of the game and console . Cnet UK reports that Microsoft and LucasArts revealed the console at San Diego Comic-Con, it went down like a house on fire. Did I also mention that the bundle contains a special edition white Kinect and wired headset?

It was been confirmed that the 320GB Star Wars bundle will cost £350 in the UK, with our American allies having to pay $449. No exact release date has been given but we expect to see the games bundle around December, just in time for Christmas. Gaming sites are taking pre-orders now so be sure to secure your special edition console. It certainly seems like a must have for any Star Wars fan.

One of the greatest features that the console brings is sound effects when the disc tray is opened and closed. It makes the classic beep boop beep noise that R2-D2 makes in all of the movies. The latest game sees you use your body movements to complete missions, engage baddies in lightsaber battles and pilot vehicles seen in the movies. Personally I would loved to have had a handheld lightsaber, swooshing it around to smash storm troopers and battle droids to smithereens, what about you?

Back on May 4th, we celebrated “Star Wars day, “May The Fourth Be With You”. George Lucas said that he had an exciting bit of news for fans, but they were all betrayed by the dark side and it turned out that the surprise was only the release of all 6 movies in a Blu-ray box set. Tech Radar reports that sadly Xbox 360 owners will not be able to watch said movies on their Star Wars console as it has not been upgraded with a Blu-ray drive, still DVD for now unfortunately.

Some news that may or may not have Star Wars fans excited is that George Lucas will be trying to reboot the saga in 3D. It has been confirmed that The Phantom Menace will be re-released in cinemas next year in 3 dimensional glory. The success of the movie will determine if more are made, if so you can expect 1 each year. Judging by the poor 3D of late, I would not get my hopes up.
