Ronaldo Takedown of Chivas’s Vazquez: YouTube Video Viral

Here at OSM we like to bring you news about the latest viral videos on YouTube and just some of our recent examples have been The Amazing Spiderman trailer, another Epic Meal Time and the video for the latest Rebecca Black song “My Moment.” Today’s viral video is from the world of sport and features one of the most famous footballers in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, taking down Patricio Araujo Vazquez in a match.

Ronaldo is the world’s most expensive footballer and currently plays for Real Madrid but it seems he’s also been practicing his martial arts skills as in a recent ‘friendly’ match against Chivas de Guadalajara his actions were not so friendly. When he got caught up with Patricia Araujo Vazquez in the Chivas box, the tangle was soon sorted by Portuguese Ronaldo with a swift takedown that wouldn’t have been out of place in a Judo match.

Amazingly the YouTube video has already been viewed over half a million times and you can view it below this story. Look out for Ronaldo in the Number 7 shirt and you can see how he manages to get Vazquez in a head-lock before throwing him down unceremoniously but the referee couldn’t see the justification and promptly showed Ronaldo a yellow card. As you might expect of Ronaldo he was soon protesting his innocence by gesticulating wildly and sarcastically applauding the referee’s decision.

However Ronaldo soon composed himself and got on with the business in hand gaining a second-half hat-trick in only 9 minutes, according to Massimo Marioni over on Metro. The final score was a 3-0 win for Real Madrid over the Mexican side. Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho seemed satisfied with the win saying, “We really haven’t had our whole team together because of the World Cup, because of South America, because of injury, because of surgery. But with training camp this year starting from day one we’ve been working well together.” One can only wonder though, what he said to Ronaldo about his takedown of Vazquez after the match and in private.

What are your thoughts on Ronaldo’s takedown of Vazquez? Do you think it’s just a normal physical part of the game or maybe you think there’s no excuse for this kind of behavior on a football pitch?
