Her Life is Over because of this crazy Video – FB Scam

Regular readers of OSM will know that we often report on the different nasty scams that circulate on the world’s largest social network Facebook. Some of the recent reports include the Google+ invitations scam and another one titled “Fan dies after fall at Rangers game [Video].” Now we have another one to tell you about, it’s titled “Her Life is Over because of this crazy Video” and you can see it below.

We have had to censor the image as it’s a bit naughty but hopefully you get the idea of what it is and it carries the message “OMG this is embarrassing.” Unfortunately this has been circulating pretty virally as we are seeing it appearing on more and more of our Facebook friend’s walls. With that being the case we had to investigate it and warn everyone else about it. Once you click on the wall post you will be taken to the next stage of the scam as shown beneath.

The guys over at Facecrooks.com point out that the scammers have gotten pretty lazy on this one, normally they would keep the same trend throughout the scam however when you advance to the stage shown above they have changed the title of the apparent embedded video in the background. Not only that but the fact that the user interaction where they ask you to play the video if you are over the age of 13 should set alarm bells ringing too. Clicking on that “Play Video” button will launch the final part of the scam, the bit they have been trying to get you too all along.

Not only that but you will have just posted the same thing on your own Facebook wall with you giving the appearance that you have Liked it. Of course, when your friends see that you have liked something then all reservations go out the window or so the crooks think. This is exactly why we are trying to raise the awareness of these filthy scams.

If you have been unfortunate enough to have gone through the entire process that the scammers wanted you to then you will need to do a few different things to put an end to it. The first thing you need to do is locate the post on your Facebook wall and click on the “X” in the upper right hand corner of the post, next select “Report Post / Spam” from the drop down menu. You can also follow our guide on the next steps that you should take to ensure your profile has been cleared up.
