Galaxy S II (S2) US Release: Rumored July 24th, Lost Faith?

Speculation for the new Samsung Galaxy S II (S2) US release has been circling for some time. Other countries are now enjoying its splendour but unfortunately for the States the story has been somewhat different. Past articles we’ve written have included a name change to the Galaxy S II across all four US phone carriers, as well as comparisons, news of accessories and the latest US release rumors.

Up until recently, indication is pointing towards three Canadian retailers that will be releasing the handset, this includes Bell with a date of July 21st. In the last two days, Debbie here at OSM has spoken about the Galaxy S II (Function) as its named on carrier Verizon drawing ever closer, coupled with leaked photos of a possible Galaxy S II (Within) on Sprint. As we pointed out here, its difficult to tell whether the images are indeed genuine or fake?

This leads us onto the Sprint handset and of a possible release date of July 24th. Ok, so that would make it a few days away and surely by now, we would have heard something to back this up but as of yet nothing! But when we took a moment to reflect on the last few weeks along with possible what ifs, the very same July 24th date had already been mentioned. According to headlinesnews.net, Steve Oak has spoken of an unnamed Sprint employee back at the end of June, that had leaked information on the Galaxy S II arriving on their carrier on the above date.

Over at talkandroid.com, this very news is backed up by an article from Andrew Greenfield. It has spoken about two separate sources at two different retailers that have claimed the Galaxy S II or Within will be released on the above date. Its not been officially announced by either Samsung or Sprint but the same date given by two people, spooky!

As we mentioned before, Bell are rumored to be retailing the handset from July 21st, so who knows if there is some truth in it? What we do know for sure, is that by judging by our readers’ comments, the Galaxy S II is needed in the US and the sooner the better. Suggestion has it that the US delay has been down to Samsung in talks with the various carriers but if it doesn’t arrive soon, then others such as the Motorola line-up be the Droid Bionic or Photon 4G, Apple’s iPhone 5, HTC Eternity or even Google’s Nexus 4G will be edging past its competitor.

Tell us are you patiently waiting for the Galaxy S II US arrival, or have you just given up? Should we be making such a big hype over a phone?

T-mobile refers to it as “Hercules” and was originally the only carrier known to be getting it. Yet they are not even mentioned. Perhaps you need some “sources” inside T-mobile. They had it “certified” to work on the network on June 23rd for a release as early as August. Cmon’ people…let’s keep up.

Sounds like it’s time to get the Sensation. Can’t wait anymore for “no news”.

I cant take this waiting, I hope the US version turns out to be the S2+, that would make the wait worth it. But I cant see that happening. I need a phone soon! My 3G is all but dead.
