Droid Bionic Release Patience Rewarded by Motorola: Invitations

One of the smartphones that we’ve written about most frequently at the moment is the Motorola Droid Bionic, an Android handset on its way to Verizon. Now we have news that Motorola has seen a good promotional opportunity to maybe reward those who’ve waited patiently for the Bionic and also plug the Motorola Photon 4G, due for release shortly.

The ongoing release saga over the Droid Bionic, which we rounded up here seems to be finally coming to a close and now that Verizon has launched its Droid Bionic sign-up page we’re all hoping that the rumors of a late July or early August release are accurate. We recently also heard that the Spotify music service has now been launched in the US and it seems that Motorola has had a bright idea for some good publicity.

Over on Wireless and Mobile News it’s reported that Motorola is handing out an opportunity to people who want to try out Spotify before it becomes available to the public. Users need to sign up by July 18 to get the chance of gaining one of 10,000 pre-release Spotify invites, so you still have plenty of time to grab this opportunity. In a news release Motorola stated it “believes that collaboration on music solutions for mobile devices with innovative partners, such as Spotify, can result in new, compelling choices for consumers, allowing them to explore and share new music wherever they are.”

This is certainly a clever way of restoring customer faith in Motorola after the release delay to the Droid Bionic and one that we reckon will be quite a popular move. Motorola is Spotify’s exclusive mobile device release partner and to take advantage of this offer just head to this Motorola page here where you will find a registration page.

A previous article on Wireless and Mobile News told how Spotify is available as either a desktop application or mobile app. Currently if you want to use Spotify you have to wait for an invitation but the Motorola deal will make it easier for owners of Android smartphones, including the Droid Bionic or Photon 4G to access the service earlier. It’s good to see then that this is currently taking place, although of course we still need to see the release of the Bionic and Photon 4G to take advantage.

If you’re eagerly awaiting the release of the Droid Bionic you may also be interested in our recent article on what we know and don’t know so far about this upcoming handset. Been waiting since the first announcement in January. I check new headlines/stories DAILY about the Bionic. My girlfriend says she’ll take the day off with me on Aug 4 to stand in line. :)

Agreed, I do as well. Though I’m concerned about the locked bootloader as motoblur (or whatever they want to call it) doesn’t look so appealing. I’m kinda looking at the Nexus Prime now.

What I think is funny is that they advertised the phone as the end of waiting. Its seven months and we are still waiting.
