Motorola Photon 4G Price Cut: Pre-Order At One Of Two Retailers

We initially reported on the new Motorola Photon 4G handset at the beginning of June and since then the news has just kept on coming. As well as giving you a rundown of its fantastic specifications, we have put it up alongside two other contenders, that of the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Motorola’s other biggie the Droid Bionic. Just yesterday, our very own Debbie was kind enough to give you an official release date for the Photon 4G running on Sprint’s network, which is reported to be July 31st, although as pointed out, if you belong to the Sprint Premier Loyalty programme, then you can benefit from it beforehand on July 28th.

The phone is reported to be $199.99 on a two-year contract, although news in today from Engadget has spoken of two other retailers listing the handset at a cheaper price. Worth considering if you want to save those all important pennies, lets face it they could come in handy if you’re thinking of treating it to some accessories.

Before we give you an idea of some add-ons, we can tell you that the Photon 4G running on “global connectivity” and supporting 3G, can now be pre-ordered in time for July 31st. If we tell you that retailers Walmart and Wirefly are offering the Motorola for $159.99 on a new two-year contract (Update: When we clicked onto Wirefly’s link they were offering the Photon 4G at a price of $179.99). Ok, so it may not be a massive price drop, but it still counts, check out the links to find out more information.

In terms of accessories, there will be those that will already come with the handset, examples of these include 1700 mAh battery, SIM card, USB cable/charger and of course your instruction manual.

Phones Review have added to this by reporting on a full-size Wireless Keyboard giving you quick typing and accessibility to apps, this will retail at $69.99 excluding the tax.

Another accessory to look out for is the Vehicle Navigation Dock, which will give you hands-free calling, turn by turn navigation, map routes and so on, retailing at $59.99 again excluding the tax.

As well as the cases and covers that can be bought, mention is of a Battery Only Charger and Battery Bundle for $49.99 excluding tax with availability August 21st.

Specifications for the new Motorola Photon 4G will include 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen, this brings it into line with many of the current and forthcoming mobile devices, 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 16GB internal storage with expansion to 32GB giving an overall 48GB, dual mobile hotspot capability plus 8MP rear camera and a front-facing VGA camera for video chat.

Tell us where you stand with the new Motorola Photon 4G? Will you be pre-ordering one and from where? If so, will you be adding to it with brand new accessories? Let us know.
