Sony’s S1 Tablet UK Release Date In September

The tablet PC market is one that has had some crazy volumes of interest especially over the last year or so. If you go back to the very beginning, there were a few tablet PCs on the market but they weren’t really selling well, then Apple decided they wanted to release one. Of course with the success they had found with the iPhone, a bigger one version was certainly desirable.

Since then we have seen another Apple iPad and an abundance of different manufacturers carrying the flag for Google’s Android OS of varying tasty versions. Now we have heard that Sony’s S1 tablet has a UK release date in September, we just aren’t quite sure when as the exact details are yet to be seen.

Whilst Apple has rejuvenated the market you could say that Google Android has revolutionized it through a number of manufacturers and they continue to do so. It’s great to see Google doing so well in so many areas, when you think about it they are the dominant force in terms of Search Engine and now they are after the tablet, smartphone and social networking ones too. Pretty impressive stuff when you look at the timescales they have worked too, some might argue that a social network has been on the cards for some time.

Sony’s S1 tablet has been sighted a few times recently, the device also has a sister tablet with a clam-shell design in the S2. The pair of them have been showing up in a series of videos that are being used to advertise their features and the sleek looking tablet itself. We have also seen the pre-order and release dates for the US that were reported by OSM’s Maddy Rowe almost a month ago.

We have also seen the specs of the devices where the questions were being asked of them about being a contender for the iPad 2. The thing is Apple has become so well established in the tablet market, it’s difficult for any one tablet to get anywhere near them. We learned that September would be the UK release date through an article over on Geeky-Gadgets by Roland Hutchinson who mentions just a few of the impressive specifications of the device.

The original source of the information is ThisIsMyNext where Nilay Patel has published an exclusive article saying that the launch date of the device is September 1st for UK customers. Not too long until then and we can have a nice look at this and its folding sister tablet. We are intrigued to see how the PlayStation Suite works on these PlayStation certified tablets.
