iPhone 5 Decimated By Four Big Names Inc. HTC Blast

As the battle for smartphone supremacy still rages on with current phone line-ups, things will start to get even more interesting in the next 2 or so months. Currently the Samsung Galaxy S II (S2) is dubbed the phone to beat with some impressive specs and others are due to be released such as the Samsung Hercules, HTC Eternity, Google Nexus 4G and a new concept phone the HTC Blast. Bearing in mind the iPhone 5 is coming in September, will the new specs be enough to tempt?

Rumors for the iPhone 5 have been endless and we’ve posted a fair amount of posts in relation to these. The latest was just yesterday with news of a 3D camera which had been leaked via a photo, we asked whether this was indeed the real deal? If Apple are to succeed with their next generation phone, then the specs will have to be pretty special, but possibly without dramatically changing its appearance, many have argued that this may ruin everything Apple stands for!

We’ve already brought news about Motorola’s new Droid Bionic which is due to be released in the next few weeks, another that of its neighbour the Photon 4G, there’s the HTC Sensation, myTouch 4G Slide and so on, but this is when the tables could be turned on the iPhone 5, with yet another batch of smartphones in the pipeline and there monstrous compared to the ones mentioned above.

As ibtimes.com reported, the next in line are that of the HTC Eternity, Samsung Hercules, Google Nexus 4G and a concept phone that was talked about in May, that of the HTC Blast.

As we’ve already given you information on the first three, its only fair to talk about the HTC Blast first, we have to categorically point out, that it is only a concept phone, but that’s not to say that we will not see it. Starting off with its screen size, the Blast is rumored to come with a 4.7-inch AMOLED screen with 1280 x 720 resolution. Currently many of the phones coming out are that of 4.3-inch, examples of this includes the Galaxy S II and the HTC Sensation. Another key inclusion on handsets is that of dual-core processors, the Blast is rumored to come with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS and what’s impressed us is that of a possible 12MP rear camera and 3MP to the front.

In terms of a comparison, the HTC Eternity equals that of the Blast with its rumored 4.7-inch display although its processor may be 1.5GHz but of a single-core variety. Rear-facing camera will be that of an 8MP to the rear and 1.3MP to the front. One feature to point out here is that the HTC Eternity will be a Windows Phone benefiting from the latest version “Mango.”

Next on the agenda is the Samsung Hercules due to be released sometime in August. With a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, the phone is rumored to come with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 8MP rear dual LED flash camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and Near Field Communication (NFC) which really is a must for the iPhone 5.

Last but certainly not least is the Google Nexus 4G which is due to be launched near to Thanksgiving time, that’s November for anyone that doesn’t know. Dubbed a “monster,” the Nexus 4G will include a 4.5-inch screen, 1.2 or 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 5MP rear camera which although smaller than its rivals, will benefit from an added sensor, allowing pictures to be taken in low light conditions, along with 1MP front. Android 4.0 Ice Cream OS is rumored to come on the Nexus 4G, the first for any phone.

So as you can see, Apple may have a job on their hands once the iPhone 5 is released. No doubt many of you who are avid fans of the iPhone will be keen to stick with the brand, but on looking at some of the contenders above, its fair to say that this will be testing times for Steve Jobs.
